Gel Permeation / Size Exclusion Chromatography Laboratory (GPC/SEC)

Gel Permeation/Size exclusion Chromatography (GPC/SEC) is a widely used method for characterising polymeric materials, particularly to determine molecular weights (absolute and relative) and molecular weight distribution. GPC/SEC separates molecules based on their size or hydrodynamic volume. This is in difference to other separation techniques which depend upon chemical or physical interactions for the separation of molecules. Scion specialises in GPC/SEC for the analysis of lignocellulosic and other bio-derived polymeric materials functions including: - Checking the success of a polymeric reaction - Checking polymeric materials for degradation e.g. during use or processing - Analysing feedstocks for manufacturing - Identifying the size of compounds obtained during biodegradation processes. We cover multi-angle laser light scattering, refractive index, ultraviolet, and viscometry.
